The lake is amazingly shallow, only about 12' deep in the deepest place. Surprising given the size of it. There is a levee all the way around, whether for the protection of the lake or the surrounding communities I do not know, but even at 12' deep there is a lot of water in the lake. It is 35 miles across and the route I took, coming in south of the end of the lake was only 25 miles. It took a little over 3 hours to cross, I had a great time of it! Just enough wind to make her skip along briskly.
